ABOUT US
Catherine Grassi and Debbie Spencer-Jones formed 'Grassi & Jones' in 2016. Their work together includes Cookery Masterclasses, bespoke entertaining services and food styling for photo shoots.
They share a passion for creative cooking and whether rustling up an outdoor feast for their families or a party for a whole village, have always loved the way food brings people together.
Catherine grew up in a large family on a Somerset farm where fresh produce always took centre stage. Today she recreates this for her own family thanks to a glorious garden filled with vegetables, pigs and chickens! Debbie's love of cooking started in childhood. Her mother, a cookery teacher, shared her kitchen secrets from as early as she can remember. Debbie honed her technical skills at Darina Allen's esteemed Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland. A year spent living in Australia confirmed her love of stylish, modern food using the freshest ingredients.
In 2016 they were encouraged to apply for Channel 4's new entertaining and competitive cookery series 'My Kitchen Rules UK' by their friend Stacey Hedges, of local Tunworth cheese fame.
The programme series was presented by two time Michelin Star restaurateur Michael Caines and food writer and famed cookery school founder Prue Leith.
Catherine and Debbie embraced all the challenges that the competition threw at them. Beginning with a Jane Austen inspired pop-up restaurant in Catherine's home, where they showcased the local produce of their region.
The TV competition gave them both the opportunity to cook for a host of a well respected chefs. They successfully sailed through the competition rounds and were proud to make it to the final where they cooked for the highly esteemed chef and restaurateur Raymond Blanc.
Prue Leith described Catherine and Debbie as
"Gems in the kitchen".
